Funny Story

This morning, I had my first deer sighting on our property. But, I have a funny story to share.

When we lived in Kansas (in the city), Luke and I were on our way to work one morning. We were just blocks from downtown when I saw this animal run like the wind about a block in front of us. I mentioned to Luke "that was the biggest dog I ever saw". He laughed at me and told me it was a deer. I'll never forget that. Being that I grew up in the city, I didn't see wild animals.

Well, when I first saw this deer this morning, it reminded me of that morning. I thought I was seeing a big dog again. The deer came from the right and was standing behind the playset when I first saw it.

Ahhh...peace and quiet and a little free time

I have a few moments while the children are sleeping and a good stopping point from household chores.

This last weekend, Luke found an awesome deal on an outdoor playset for the kids. So on Sunday we went and dismantled it and reassembled it in our new backyard. Kaitelyn is so excited to have her own playground now. Each morning when we get up she looks outside and asks, "Mom, is that my playground"? or "Can I go play on the playground"?. Of course the answers are "Yes". I'm so excited that we have our own playset, no more driving to a park or telling Kaitelyn "No, that's now our playground".

Kaitelyn's favorite is the slide so far, it's super fast and she likes to watch toys go down it.

So Kaitelyn has been super cute lately and super sweet. One of her favorite things to do is go into our guest bath and wash her hands and face. Here's one of her silly faces.

Goodbye Xanthippe - You were loved

I'd like to think that my little Xanthippe had a good life with us. We had some good times with her. She always loved being outdoors so she would let us know when she was cooped up for too long. Xanthippe was a playful kitty and loved to cuddle with me at night. I'm going to miss her :-(

Throughout all of our moves, from Kansas to Washington, to San Diego and the moves into our new home we managed to move all of our animals. Well, Xanthippe made it into our new home, but only for 1 day. Luke let her out at bedtime last Tuesday night and she hasn't been back. That's not like our little Xanthippe, she always comes back and makes appearances during the day. I've been looking out for her everyday, but not a peep or sighting. I'd like to think that she found a nice new home, but I'm sure that's not the case.

The bright side of it is, we are now down to 3 pets from 4.

We're Moved!!

Last Saturday (April 18th), we moved into our new home. Luke recruited about 8 guys to come and help us with this 2nd move. They busted butt and had everything moved over in 3.5 hours.

We are so excited to be here and can't wait to get completely settled. Kaitelyn loves having so much more room inside and out to run and play. One of her favorite things to do is ride her tricycle in the driveway. That's something she couldn't do before, we had to take the trike somewhere for her to ride.

Our garage is cleared out enough to park our vehicles in now. We still have boxes to sort through of course, but at least we can park inside. This is a great amenity for us. I had to park out front in the street so I always had to be careful that Kaitelyn didn't run out too far or watch out for any reckless drivers that might slam into me while getting Reed in his car seat.

I thought that when we moved into a bigger home, the animals wouldn't be in the way so much anymore. Boy was I wrong, they are still under my feet all the time.

Just waiting

It looks like everything is going forward with the 'new' home purchase. The sellers have said that they should be able to meet the closing date of 4/17 so moving day #2 is scheduled for 4/18. It will be great to get into our own place. Becky and Hans' place is awesome but there's no place like your own home. Thanks guys!
